We arrive at Tay Pansiyon (like a large b&b) at 11.30pm; it is still in the mid-thirties (about 95F) and are immediately directed to the garden courtyard for tea and a chance to watch some Euro 2016 football. Our bags are taken to our room and we are told to relax, check-in formalities can wait until tomorrow. Lovely Turkish hospitality.
Read MoreOnce at Guatape we climbed a snaking road to the base of the famous Guatape rock. The top was swathed in cloud which didn’t auger well for those views! We paid our 15,000 (£3) entrance fee to climb the 750 steps to the top and off we set.
Read MoreI took a couple of skype calls, delivered some online training, attended a webinar and then we went food shopping with our hosts. The supermarkets have such interesting fruits here. We bought something that looks just like a turnip but is apparently sweet; tiny squidgy bananas that are in fact concentrated passion fruit tasting things and also coconut flavoured yoghurt drink.
Read MoreToday we went shopping. There are many supermarkets from basic ones similar to Lidl through to premium brands. We stopped in the cafeteria of one of the big ones and had a couple of fruit tartlets and a coffee. Their breakfast special was pain au chocolat and a coffee for 75p.
Read MoreLast week we saw The Revenant (not impressed) and decided to push the boat out by buying the premium seats. Tickets were £1.80 each. Tonight however we are going to a premiership match. We are currently staying less than 10 minutes walk from the stadium and some friends have got us ticket somewhere inside for £6 each.
