We arrive at Tay Pansiyon (like a large b&b) at 11.30pm; it is still in the mid-thirties (about 95F) and are immediately directed to the garden courtyard for tea and a chance to watch some Euro 2016 football. Our bags are taken to our room and we are told to relax, check-in formalities can wait until tomorrow. Lovely Turkish hospitality.Read More
Once at Guatape we climbed a snaking road to the base of the famous Guatape rock. The top was swathed in cloud which didn’t auger well for those views! We paid our 15,000 (£3) entrance fee to climb the 750 steps to the top and off we set.Read More
I took a couple of skype calls, delivered some online training, attended a webinar and then we went food shopping with our hosts. The supermarkets have such interesting fruits here. We bought something that looks just like a turnip but is apparently sweet; tiny squidgy bananas that are in fact concentrated passion fruit tasting things and also coconut flavoured yoghurt drink.Read More
Today we went shopping. There are many supermarkets from basic ones similar to Lidl through to premium brands. We stopped in the cafeteria of one of the big ones and had a couple of fruit tartlets and a coffee. Their breakfast special was pain au chocolat and a coffee for 75p.Read More
Last week we saw The Revenant (not impressed) and decided to push the boat out by buying the premium seats. Tickets were £1.80 each. Tonight however we are going to a premiership match. We are currently staying less than 10 minutes walk from the stadium and some friends have got us ticket somewhere inside for £6 each.Read More
We are going back in order to collect keys from the new tenant, on behalf of the owner. The tenant has a bulldog puppy who is made from solid energy. He is very excited to see us and ends up chasing Gönül around the flat. It is very funny.Read More

What, I hear you ask, is a vault toilet?
– Is it a place where those who have incredible wealth stored in a bank, upon needing to examine said wealth and suddenly being caught short in the excitement of the moment, are able to relieve themselves without leaving sight of their treasures?
– Or perhaps a toilet that requires a certain degree of gymnastic proficiency and an exquisite sense of timing?
– Yet still, a poorly spelled edifice that emits regular bursts of electricity through the seating area, encouraging participants not to dwell about their business, and thus abbreviating the waiting queue’s dances of desperation?
Pray, dear reader, read on and all will be revealed!Read More
