I’m about to leave to pick up Martin from Chicago O’Hare International Airport. I’m very excited because it’s been nearly two years since I’ve seen him and we’re both looking forward to getting this amazing trip started.
We’ve been working hard on all of the details and preparation for almost a year now, but we realize that this is just the beginning. We still have a long way to go before we’re 100% ready – and even then, I don’t think we’ll be ready! This next week will be crucial to the entire trip. We have to test out all of our camping equipment and make a lot of final preparations. We’ll fill you in as we move closer to the big day.
Today is also bittersweet. Unfortunately, I have to deal with the fact that Marisol was denied a tourist visa to join us on the trip. She had all of her paperwork in line and double-checked it with a visa consultant, but all it took was just a few seconds for the officer to ruin all of our plans. As much as I’m ready to get the trip started, I’m counting down the days to return to Colombia so I can see Marisol again.
